• First Burn

Your candle’s first burn is the most important one to set the stage for how it will burn on all subsequent burns. Before lighting your candle make sure you’re lighting it at a time when you can let it burn for 4-5 hours to ensure that the wax melts all the way to the edge. Wax has memory, meaning that if your candle doesn't burn to the edge on that first burn, it will begin to tunnel and won't burn evenly the next time.

Not only is tunneling an unpleasant sight but it can also prevent your wick from burning properly on the next burn and it will reduce the amount of burn time your candle has

  • Trim the wick

Did you know that keeping the burnt edges trimmed off your wooded wick is essential for optimal performance?

Excess burnt edges left on the wick can cause the candle to burn really high and smoke, but most of the time it will cause the candle to have a really low flame that’s not much higher than the wick itself.

Wooden wicks especially, burn the best when the burnt edges are cleaned off each time before lighting!
